The Birmingham XO Story
In late 2007, after seeing a demonstration the Mayor of Birmingham purchased the XO laptops with the goal of closing the digital divide and ensuring that children of the city have access to the tools they need to succeed in the digital age. The XO was to be given to the child after a parental agreement was signed accepting the XO and the
responsibility for the XO. The agreement placed the responsibility of maintenance, repair and total care upon the family and child receiving the XO.
